SMS Communications

SMS is core to how voice messages reach the people you love. Here's exactly how it works, what you'll receive, and how to opt out anytime.

What SMS messages we send

When you create an account with So You Know™, you'll receive SMS text messages at the phone number you provide. These messages include:

Delivery notifications — when someone records a voice message for you, you'll receive a text with a link to listen.
Scheduled reminders — gentle nudges to record messages for people you've added to your circle (e.g., "It's been a month — say hi to Mom").
Account activity — alerts about important account events, such as scheduled Heirloom deliveries.

How you opt in

Opt-in to SMS messaging happens during account creation on the So You Know™ web app at soyouknow.ai. After entering your mobile phone number, you must actively tap a dedicated, unmarked checkbox to agree to receive SMS messages from us. SMS consent is presented as a separate checkbox from Terms of Service and Privacy Policy agreement.

How to opt out

You can stop receiving SMS messages at any time:

Reply STOP to any message we send. You'll receive one confirmation, then no further messages.
Reply HELP to receive contact information for support.
Update your notification settings in your account profile.

Frequency & carriers

Message frequency varies based on your use and the people in your circle. You may receive anywhere from a few messages per month to several per week. Message and data rates may apply per your mobile carrier's plan. So You Know™ does not charge for SMS messaging.

Carriers supported: AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, US Cellular, and most regional carriers in the United States. International SMS delivery is not currently supported.

Your phone number, your data

No mobile information will be shared with third parties. So You know, Inc. will not share, sell, or transfer mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in data, or SMS consent information to any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories of personal data exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
